Historical connections
Patiala interacted with Ranjit Singh’s expanding power and British protection in the Cis-Sutlej region. This is a political connection, not a claim of descent from Ranjit Singh.
Our family story
The Patiala house belongs to the Phulkian grouping, sharing the ancestor Phul with Nabha and Jind. Ala Singh developed a principality in Malwa and founded Qila Mubarak in 1763. The pedigree follows his grandson Amar Singh and the later Patiala rulers through Bhupinder Singh. Its eastern Punjab setting explains why this family needs a separate collection from the original Lahore and Rawalpindi volume.

Source and relationship notes
Selected historical branches transcribed from the 1940 government pedigree appendix. Parent links mean recorded in this source, not independently proven biological descent. Spelling variants are retained in notes. Gaps are left open; succession alone is not parentage. Recent descendants, current locations, contact details and schooling require further sources and consent. Legendary remote origins are not entered as established ancestry.
This starter follows the principal ruling line and selected siblings. Rama/Ram, Narendra/Narinder and Mahendra/Mohinder are spelling variants. The chart places Amar under Sardul, making him Ala Singh’s grandson; he is not entered as Ala Singh’s son.
